PM calls up Jayalalithaa before meeting Chandrika

CHENNAI April 10. Before his meeting with the visiting Sri Lankan President, Chandrika Kumaratunga, today, the Prime Minister, A. B. Vajpayee, called up the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, and sought her views on issues of mutual concern between the island-Nation and India, with specific reference to Tamil Nadu.

Ms. Jayalalithaa highlighted the issues of early repatriation of Tamil refugees in the State and their proper resettlement in Sri Lanka as also the need for resolving the problem caused by Sri Lankan fishermen attacking fishermen from Tamil Nadu, venturing into the high seas, leading to their detention by Sri Lankan authorities, says an official release.

During her meeting with the Sri Lankan President here on Monday, the Chief Minister raised these issues.
