In a statement here today, the VHP Gujarat unit general secretary, Dilip Trivedi, castigated what he called the Vajpayee Government's "Muslim appeasement'' policies and said the BJP was ignoring the sentiments of 90-crore Hindus. Even during the Congress regime at the Centre, "Ram Navami" was listed as a public holiday but the party, which had come to power in the name of Lord Ram, was not prepared to declare a public holiday on the Lord's birthday. Incidentally, the BJP Government in Gujarat has declared "Ram Navami" as a public holiday while the Centre has listed it as one of the restricted holidays.
