Sania in last eight

NEW DELHI APRIL 10. Sania Mirza continued her good run and defeated 15th-seeded Pichittra Thongdach of Thailand 6-4, 7-5 to move into the quarterfinals of the Japan Open Group I TF junior tennis tournament in Nagoya on Thursday.

Third-seeded Sania will meet 12th-seeded Moe Kawatoko of Japan in the quarterfinals.

However, sixth-seeded Sanaa Bhambri lost 4-6, 3-6 to 11th-seeded Lara Giltinan of Australia in the pre-quarterfinals.

In doubles, fifth-seeded Sania and Sanaa defeated Minami Sugiura and Haruka Tachiki of Japan 6-1, 6-0 in the second round after a bye in the first.

In the quarterfinals, the Indian duo will take on Erika Takao and Mari Tanaka of Japan who beat Yung Jan Chan of Chinese Taipei and Tara Iyer 6-2, 6-2.

In the boys' section, fifth-seeded Karan Rastogi lost 4-6, 6-2, 3-6 to 12th-seeded Yao-Lun Chang of Chinese Taipei in the pre-quarterfinals.

In doubles, Karan and Somdev Dev Varman beat Kei Nishikori and Genki Tomita of Japan 6-3, 6-3 in the second round after a bye in the first.
