Decision on APMC polls soon

BANGALORE APRIL 9. The Minister for Agriculture Marketing, B.S.Patil Sasanur, said today that the State Cabinet would soon take a decision on holding elections to all agriculture produce marketing committees (APMCs).

He told presspersons here that administrators would be appointed to the APMCs which had completed their term. Administrators had been appointed to nine APMCs.

He said tahsildars, assistant commissioners, and deputy commissioners would head the APMCs depending upon their turnover.

The term of APMCs would end by the month end.

Mr. Sasanur said the practice of nominating three members to each APMC would continue. He agreed that the posts of chairman and vice-chairman of the APMCs should be on rotation.
