New Delhi April 9. A total of 42 cases of betting were registered in the four metro cities during the cricket World Cup and as many as 129 persons were arrested and an amount of Rs. 12,05,997 seized.Replying to supplementaries during question hour in the Rajya Sabha, the Minister of State for Home, I.D. It was for the metros to take stringent action under their respective Gambling Acts.Mr. Swami said there was no proposal to amend the Centre's Act on Gambling and the entire gamut of criminal justice system was being looked into by the Justice Maliamath Committee.
