Tamil Nadu-Chennai
By Our Staff Reporter
On Wednesday, at least two sections of cable TV operators under the banners of Tamizhaga Cable TV Operator's General Welfare Association and Tamizhaga Cable TV Owner's Association openly disassociated themselves from the proposed blackout. A splinter group of the Cable TV Owner's Association claimed that it had not been consulted before the agitation plan was announced. Also, they felt that the subscriber must not be made to suffer in the war between a multi-system operator (MSO) and one channel. "Why should we black out channels which the MSO or the operators do not have any problem with?" an association representative told a press conference today. The Cable TV operator's General Welfare Association has said it would abstain from the protest "since it would not solve the problem". "A permanent solution is possible only if the channels and the MSO sit across the desk and discuss," a release from the association said.
