Sainik institute commissioned

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM APRIL 2. A Sainik Institute, `Nirvana', aimed at providing recreational, educational and utility facilities for the jawans and their families, was commissioned at the Pangode Military Centre today.

Major General Anup Singh Jamwal, AVSM, VSM, General Officer Commanding, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Goa area, inaugurated the centre. The institute, brainchild of Brigadier Ranjit Prasad, Station Commander, Pangode, was set up to raise the quality of life of the jawans and their families by providing wholesome and quality facilities under one roof.

The facilities include an air-conditioned library, modern gymnasium for men and women, launderette, home theatre system, STD booth, conference hall and cafeteria.

A basket ball court, badminton court, skating rink and playing equipment have been set up for children. A nature park and a walking track will also be set up at the institute.
