Pakistan state controlled news agency, Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) in a report from Beijing has said that the charter was signed following the talks held by the visiting Pakistan Minister of State for Defence Production, Habibullah Khan Waraich, with his Chinese counterpart, Zhung Wei Min. Quoting official sources the news agency said that defence industries of Pakistan and China have long time-tested relationship, which has helped in promoting peace and stability in the region. However there were no details as to what areas the new charter covered. It said that in the course of talks the two sides reiterated their resolve to maintain the on-going interaction in strengthening their defence industry. Mr. Waraich was in Beijing on Monday at the head five-member delegation to hold talks with his Chinese friends on matters of `bilateral interest'. APP said the Chinese Defence Minister, Cao Gangchuan, met the Pakistani Prime Minister, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, in Beijing last week. Mr. Jamali visited China on a three-day visit at the end of last month.
