KOZHIKODE APRIL 2. Anti-war themes will be the main feature of the programme, `Ammayodoppam', being held here on April 5. There will be songs, dance and skits on anti-war themes, said its organisers at a press conference today. `Ammayodoppam' is being organised by the event management firm, Innovations, to raise funds for Amma, the association of film artistes. Top actors and actresses of Malayalam cinema are in Kozhikode for the programme. Rehearsals have been in full swing since April 1. The cine star, Mammootty, said preparations for the programmes had started much earlier in Kochi. It was also announced that Mohan Lal would not participate in the show as he is away in the U.S. on a private visit. The organisers also dissociated themselves from advertisements that gave the impression that leading Hindi film stars such as Aamir Khan and Aiswarya Roy, would also be present for the programme. The cine actor and president of Amma, Innocent, promised lively entertainment for the viewers at the programme. P.V. Gangdharan, film producer and Chairman of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KFDC), announced that the revenue from the `Ammayodoppam' programme would be used for the welfare scheme for senior film artistes. The venue for the show has been named after the late K.P. Ummer. A portion of the earnings would go to the late actor's family. `Amma' is already giving monthly pension to 19 artistes. With the funds raised from the April 5 programme, 11 more artistes would be given pension. The show has been insured for Rs 1. 5 crores. Baburaj Jacob, managing director of the event management firm Innovations, said the sale of tickets was expected to pick up in the next few days. It was a star-studded press conference, with the film stars outnumbering the media. Mamootty, Innocent, Srinivasan, Nedumudi Venu, Dilip, Mukesh Jagathy Sree Kumar, Jayaram, Janardanan and the star of the recent box office hit `Nammal', Jishnu, were among the familiar faces which could be spotted. Among the actresses present were KPAC Lalitha, and Kavya Madhavan.
