DDA official remanded to 5-day CBI custody

New Delhi April 2. The suspended DDA official Ashok Kapoor, accused of acting as a conduit in the DDA scam to settle a deal between the officials of the authority and a private school, was today remanded to five-day CBI custody by a City Court.

The Special Judge, V. K. Jain, granted the remand of Kapoor till April 7 to facilitate his custodial interrogation.

However, on a CBI plea for police remand of Ajay Khanna, who allegedly acted as a conduit on behalf of DLF Universal Ltd, and could not be produced in the court on medical ground, the judge directed the agency to file an application before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM).

The Special Judge said the ACMM would appoint a Magistrate to go to the Safdarjung Hospital, where Khanna is admitted, and consider the CBI request. — PTI
