Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Supreme Court order to maintain the ` status-quo ' in Ayodhya (April 1) has cleared the ambiguity over the Centre's power to hand over the undisputed land to the trust. It would also help to maintain communal harmony and tranquillity. Also, it would be very useful for execution of the final decree. The order has strengthened the faith of the people in the judiciary. Now the onus is on the Government to give effect to maintaining `status quo'. It should not politicise the matter and it is its prime duty to have control over elements which can vitiate the atmosphere.
Azeez Nazar Sabri,
Sir, The Supreme Court judgment rejecting the Centre's plea for handing over the undisputed land to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad has once again reaffirmed the faith of minorities in the judicial system. The court deserves kudos for cutting the VHP to size. Also the judgment has exposed the omissions and commissions of the NDA Government.
