HC Registry effects shuffle in districts

CHENNAI APRIL 1 . Following the elevation of eight district judges as judges of the Madras High Court, the HC Registry today effected a reshuffle in many districts. The places of posting of the new principal district judges are given in brackets.

M. Jayapal (Principal Sessions Judge, City Civil Court in Chennai), V. Periyakaruppiah (Principal District Judge, Chengalpet), R. Sivakumar (Dharmapuri at Krishnagiri), S.S.P. Darwesh (Salem), S. Sivaprakasam (Madurai), A. Rathinavelu (Coimbatore), G.M. Akbar Ali (Chief Judge, Court of Small Causes in Chennai), Akbar (Chairman, State Transport Apellate Tribunal), N. Rathinaraj (Perambalur), T. Duraisamy (Virudhunagar at Srivilliputtur), K.P.K. Vasuki (Namakkal), K. Ramakrishnan (Thanjavur), V. Thayarammal (Tiruchi), A. Selvadoss (Tuticorin), R. Balasubramaniam (Karaikal), R. Mala (Vellore), R. Muniratnam (Cuddalore) and K. Ramasubramanian (I Additional Sessions Judge, City Civil Court, Chennai).

Swearing-in of HC judges

Meanwhile, the newly-appointed additional judges of the High Court will be administered the oath of office by the Chief Justice, B. Subhashan Reddy, on Thursday. The notification was issued by the Registrar-General, shortly after the Presidential warrant was received this afternoon.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place at the meeting hall. The function, scheduled to start around 10.30 a.m., will last for about an hour, and immediately afterwards the new judges will assume office and sit in Division Benches along with senior colleagues.
