Ponnaiyan scales new heights in eulogy

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI April 1. ``Everything is Chief Minister, Everything is Puratchi Thalaivi,'' the Finance Minister, C. Ponnaiyan, thundered in the Assembly today, scaling new heights in eulogy.

His adulatory assertion came in response to the Congress floor leader, S. R. Balasubramaniam's query why he was ducking responsibility for having drafted the budget, by giving the entire credit to the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa.

The provocative remark prompted Mr. Ponnaiyan, who had liberally studded his budget speech with praises of Ms. Jayalalithaa, launch into another eulogy session. ``She is a master of everything,'' he said, amid loud thumping by the Treasury Benches. He further went on: ``She is a practical economist. Praising her intelligence and photographic memory is paying tribute to God himself.''

Not just that. For steering Tamil Nadu out of the economic reforms, a leader was required to be lion-hearted. ``And, only our Puratchi Thalaivi is endowed with such courage.''
