HYDERABAD: The Governor, Surjit Singh Barnala, has extended "warmest greetings'' to the people of the State and Telugus living in other parts of the world on the occasion of the Telugu new year day, Ugadi, on Wednesday. He described Ugadi as a festival of joy and hope and hoped that the `Swabhanu' new year would bring in new cheer and expectation, peace and prosperity, and harmony and happiness to the people of the State. The Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, in a message greeted Telugus living in India and abroad on the eve of Ugadi and hoped the new year would turn out to be auspicious for all. He urged people to become partners in progress and achieve success in all fields. He appealed to the people to actively participate in "Jala Chaitanyam'' being organised from April 5 to 15 to improve water resources. The PCC president, M.Satyanarayana Rao, in a message greeted people and said he was praying for their peace and prosperity. He hoped the Telugus would scale new heights in their endeavours. In a separate statement, the BJP State president, Ch. Ramachandra Reddy, conveyed his Ugadi greetings to the people on behalf of his party, hoping that the new year would usher in peace and happiness for them.
