LML's two-wheeler sales soared in March 2003 on the back of a surge in sales of motorcycles. The company sold 20,784 units during the month against 8,250 units in March 2002. Motorcycle sales jumped to 17,674 units due to increasing sales of its 110cc model Freedom. Sales of scooters and the Trendy scooterette, however, fell by 44.4 per cent and 70.2 per cent to 3,079 units and 31 units respectively during the month, the spokesperson said. For the year ended March 31, 2003, the company posted a 11.6 per cent rise in sales at 1.84 lakh units against 1.65 lakh units a year ago. This was because of a 167.3 per cent growth in motorcycle sales at 1.19 lakh units during 2002-03. Scooters and Trendy sales however slipped by 45.81 per cent and 55.37 per cent to 63,672 units and 1,431 units respectively. Sales of Freedom motorcycle have crossed one lakh units since its launch.
