Bajaj vehicle sales up

MUMBAI APRIL 1. Bajaj Auto has announced sales of 14.43 lakh units of two and three wheelers in 2002-03, an increase of 6.2 per cent over the previous 13.58 lakh units.

Motorcycle sales for the year were 8.68 lakh units (6.56 lakh units), a jump of 32.3 per cent. Total two wheeler sales were up 4.3 per cent at 12.49 lakh units (11.98 lakh units) while three wheeler sales were 1.94 lakh units (1.61 lakh units), a jump of 20.6 per cent. Exports constituted 94,133 units (44,311 units), a growth of 112.4 per cent.

The company recorded sales of 1.10 lakh units of two and three wheelers in March 2003 against 1.25 lakh units in the corresponding period of the previous year; a drop of 12 per cent.

Commercial production of GC 1000, the new one tonne goods carrier powered by Kubota Diesel engine, has commenced at the Waluj plant and the company expects to produce over 500 units of this model this month.
