Sensex recovers on fresh buying

MUMBAI APRIL 1. Bolstered by an unexpected bout of buying spree, stocks made a remarkable turnaround pushing the Sensex up by 32 points at close in a roller-coaster ride on the Bombay Stock Exchange today even as mounting concerns over Iraq war held global markets under pressure.

After a weak start at 3037.54, the BSE benchmark 30-share index later recovered its early losses and gradually moved upwards to the intra-day high at 3089.60 on the back of a selective rally in heavyweight stocks before ending at 3080.95 against yesterday's close of 3048.72, netting a rise of 32.23 points or 1.06 per cent. — PTI
