Nagappa's family stays away from identification parade

MYSORE April 1. Three persons arrested in connection with the former Minister, H. Nagappa's abduction and killing, were paraded at the Mysore Central Jail for identification. Though 23 witnesses were present, Nagappa's wife, Parimala Nagappa, and his son-in-law, Kiran Patel, stayed away.

Nagappa's family sources said they did not receive any information about the parade. The family had demand a CBI probe into Nagappa's killing.

The forest brigand,Veerappan, and his gang abducted Nagappa from his residence in Kamagere on August 25 last.

The arrested persons, Shankar, Selvam and Bhagyaraj, were paraded amid tight security. The witnesses include the driver, Ganesh, and the cleaner, Thimmaraju, of Udayaranga Bus Service, which Veerappan is said to have boarded after abducting Nagappa, the owner of a farmhouse in Kamagere, Guruswamy, who received the first cassette from Veerappan, Nagappa's security guard, Puttananja, and the car driver, Mahadevaswamy.

Mathur and Krishna, cowherds from Kalmattur village near Kamagere, who received one of Veerappan's cassettes and sent it to Nagappa's family at Kamagere from Bidadi, were also among those present for identification.
