By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI
APRIL 1.
The Planning Commission has set up an internal group to monitor the fall-out of the Iraq war on the Indian economy.
Called the Standing Group on Economic Fallout of Iraq War, the panel will be headed by the Secretary, Planning Commission, N. K. Sinha. It will have as members various advisors in the Commission looking after sectors such as energy, tourism and agriculture.
The group will monitor the impact of the war on Indian exports, inward remittances, oil prices and tourism and give its recommendations to the Government. It would also provide inputs to the Core Group of Secretaries already functioning to look into the economic fallout of the war.
