By B. Muralidhar Reddy
A formal announcement is expected in the next few days.
Following the December 13 Parliament attack, India decided to suspend air, road and rail links from January 1, 2002, and Pakistan followed suit. As a result the Delhi-Lahore bus service, the Samjhutha Express, flights from Delhi to Lahore and Mumbai to Karachi and vice-versa were suspended. Citizens of India and Pakistan have to travel through the Gulf to visit each other. Getting visa is not easy and costs involved on account of the circuitous route are prohibitive. Citizens of both the countries who have relatives are the worst hit.
