The accused, Mohammad Yamin, was arrested with foreign currency by a team led by Inspector Surender Singh Sand. The police also recovered Indian currency worth Rs. 1,100, which is suspected to be fake. During interrogation, he disclosed that he came to India in 1992 with an intention to smuggle goods. However, he got into anti-social activities and started helping terrorist organisations. Yamin procured two passports on October 2000 and again entered India through Attari Border where he was arrested. He was released on bail, following which he came to Delhi and again started smuggling using Samjhauta Express. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, North Delhi, Sanjay Baniwal, Yamin was again arrested at Amritsar in Punjab. Again Yamin was arrested at Chandani Mahal here in the Capital on September 3, 2001. He was convicted and sent to one year rigorous imprisonment.
