By Our Staff Reporter

KOLLAM April 1. Under the State Government's Adivasi Rehabilitation Programme, 114 acres of land would be distributed to 128 Adivasi families in the district. The beneficiaries were selected through draw-of-lots held this morning at the collectorate conference hall.

Those selected are from the Malapandaram, Ulladan, Malavedan and Kanikar tribes. The acre-wise break-up of land for them is 59, 27, 37 and five acres respectively. They were selected from the Kollam, Kunnathur, Karunagapally, Kottarakara and Pathanapuram taluks.

The land identified for the purpose is 100 acres at the Kuriyottumala Farm near Achenkovil in Pathanapuram Taluk and 14 acres of surplus land acquired by the Government at Kottarakara taluk. The District Collector, Rajan Khobragade, who presided over the meeting, said that all arrangements were being made to complete the pattayam formalities over the identified land in favour of the selected Adivasi families.

The draw-of-lots was inaugurated by the Neduvathur MLA, Ezhukone Narayanan. Each family would get land ranging from 80 cents to one acre.
