Man held for duping job-seekers

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI MARCH 22 .A 23-year-old man who allegedly duped people on the pretext of providing them jobs has been arrested at Badarpur in South Delhi by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police. His accomplice is at large.

The police received a complaint alleging that Anil Kumar, a native of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, had been committing fraud in the garb of a company called MTL Enterprises located at Prahladpur.

As per the details provided by the complainants, the police mounted a raid at the given address, but were surprised to find that no such company existed there.

Investigations revealed that Anil and his accomplice, Krishan Pal, had tied up with a postman to deliver all the posts in the name of MTL Enterprises to them near Badarpur border. Hence, the police laid a trap and arrested Anil while he was receiving the letters.

During interrogation, Anil disclosed that in December 2002, he got an advertisement published in a Gujarati daily "Sandhesh'', offering people jobs as field officers, supervisors, clerks, drivers and guards, in Bajaj Technology Limited. The candidates were required to submit their resumes along with the applications.

Having received the applications, the accused would send appointment letters to candidates asking them to deposit Rs. 1,600 as security and registration fee in Delhi.

After collecting the drafts, the duo would flee and deposit them in their HDFC Bank account at Lakshmi Nagar in East Delhi.

The police recovered several drafts worth Rs. 1,600 each, the ATM Card of HDFC Bank and some other documents from Anil's possession. A case in this regard has been registered at Badarpur police station and a hunt launched for Krishan Pal.

Anil, who was earlier arrested for cheating at Lajpat Nagar and Trilokpuri, further disclosed that in 1999, he along with his accomplices, Shakil and Rajiv, opened an office at Lajpat Nagar and collected huge amount of money on the pretext of providing jobs in Honda Industrial Co.

In June 2001, Anil and his accomplice, Rakesh Meena and Ravinder Pratap, opened another office at Trilokpuri and cheated several others following the same modus operandi.
