At its monthly meeting held yesterday, the Council decided that a total of 29,489 students would be covered under the scheme and each child would be provided meals worth Rs.4. A total annual expenditure of Rs.2.36 crores would be incurred by the civic body on the scheme. The Council has decided to extend grant-in-aid to various non-government organisations and over Rs.12.5 lakhs will be distributed among 11 educational, medical, cultural and social institutions. Besides, work to strengthen different roads in Lutyens' Delhi area will be taken for which a sum of around Rs.2 crores has been sanctioned. Similarly, over Rs.1 crore will be spent on purchase of transformers to improve power distribution network. The NDMC will also be procuring 550 covered compatible garbage bins worth Rs.1.9 crores in order to totally mechanize the garbage collection exercise while Rs.2.31 crores has been sanctioned for purchase of seven capacity refuses compactors and a road-sweeping machine.
