The project involves the setting up of two units of 500 MW each with the first set slated to be completed in 42 months, followed by the second one in six months. With the completion of stage-III, the cumulative generating capacity of Vindhyanchal power station will be enhanced to 3,260 MW, making it the largest power-generating station in India. The scope of work includes manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of steam turbines, generators, boilers, associated auxiliaries, balance of plant and electricals for the two sets of 500 MW each, controls and instrumentation and electrostatic precipitators. The turbine generators and boilers will be manufactured by BHEL's Haridwar and Tiruchi plants respectively, while C&I system will come from its electronics division at Bangalore. The BHEL's Hyderabad plant will supply the coal mills and boiler feed pumps and the electricals will come from Bhopal and Jhansi units.
