Kerala-Thiruvananthapuram
By Our Staff Reporter
The UPS was formally handed over to the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), at a function held at the Keltron Equipment Complex in Karakulam near here. V. Ramachandran, vice-chairman, Kerala State Planning Board, handed over the documents relating to the equipment to S. A. Bohra, Senior Executive Director (Technical) of NPCIL. If the public sector undertakings were in a position to do well there would be no question of the private sector replacing them, observed Mr. Ramachandran. Unfortunately the pubic sector units were synonymous with sickness and stranger still, those who had advocated for such undertakings were also instrumental in rendering them sick. Modernisation and dedication to quality would help resurrect such units. It should be the endeavour of the employees to achieve zero error performance, especially in highly sophisticated areas like nuclear power, he added. Mr. Bohra also called for more commitment on the part of employees to achieve better results and for the sake of posterity. John Mathai, Principal Secretary, Industries and chairman, Keltron, who presided over the function said Keltron was slowly but surely wiping off its losses and would be in a position to turn the corner within a few years. V. Ram Kumar, Managing Director, Keltron, welcomed the gathering.
