Vayalar Ravi condemns `CPI(M) violence'

By Our Staff Reporter

PATHANAMTHITTA March 22. The AICC general secretary, Vayalar Ravi, today said that the UDF Government had opted for a CBI inquiry into the Muthanga incidents on its own and not on the directions of the National Human Rights Commission as propagated by the Opposition.

Mr. Ravi was inaugurating a meeting organised by the UDF at Adoor this afternoon, in protest against the recent LDF-sponsored

violences in different parts of the State to press its demand for a judicial probe into the Muthanga incidents. Mr. Ravi claimed that it was the UDF that had taken the initiative to bring the backward tribals into the mainstream and the UDF Government would see to it that the distribution of land to all the

landless tribals was completed in the next two-and-a-half years.

He alleged that the violence unleashed by the CPI(M) in the name of tribals was politically motivated and the common people of

Kerala were wise enough to realise the `political opportunism' in the CPI(M)'s new-found love for the tribals.

Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Adoor Prakash, MLAs, and Chakknattu Rajendranath, former Adoor municipal chairman, also addressed the meeting. The LDF mandalam commitee convener, K.G. Kuttan Nair, of the Kerala Congress(B) presided over the meet.
