IA hikes fares

New Delhi March 20. Indian Airlines today hiked its fares by 15 per cent across the board with immediate effect due to a massive increase in the prices of aviation turbine fuel. The decision was not connected to the U.S.-led war against Iraq but due to a 44 per cent rise in the international prices of ATF since last December, the Civil Aviation Minister, Shahnawaz Hussain, told reporters here. A decision on hiking the fares of Air India will be taken later.
