To inquire into clashes witnessed at a council meeting of the Chennai Corporation in August last, the Government appointed the S.Natarajan Commission on August 31, and asked the panel to submit the report within three months. But, as it could not finish the probe by November, the Commission was given another three months. But, three months later, it is yet to submit a report. Hence, the Government "after careful consideration" has given it a second extension, in the hope it would complete the probe by May-end. The K.Subramaniam Commission, probing clashes between students and the police near the Government Arts College, Melur in Madurai district, in September last, has been given another four months till July 6 this year to submit its report. The term of the K.S. Bhaktavatsalam Commission, probing an alleged police attack on inmates of the Dr.Ambedkar Law College hostel in December 2001, has been extended for another three months.
