Phoenix ties up with Telco

By Our Staff Correspondent

MUMBAI MARCH 11. Phoenix Venture Holdings (PVH), owners of the MG Rover Group, has signed an agreement with Tata Engineering to distribute the company's Safari off-roader and Loadbeta pick-up trucks in the U.K. and Irish markets. Given the specialised nature of the products, the franchise will be managed by Phoenix Distribution Ltd., a newly created subsidiary of Phoenix Venture Holdings.

The vehicles will be distributed through a selection of both MG Rover and former Tata dealerships. The new distribution arrangements will be implemented in the next few months.

Commenting on the announcement, the PVH group Chief Executive, Kevin Howe, said, "We are delighted to co-operate with Tata Engineering on the sales of these vehicles. We are able to assist Tatas with our experience and knowledge of these markets, and our understanding of what customers will expect from such products.''

V. Sumantran, executive director (passenger cars) of Tata Engineering, said, "The sale of Tata products through Phoenix Distribution with its reach and professional pedigree is another expression of Tata's commitment to building long-term brand presence in the U.K. and Irish markets and ensuring the satisfaction of current and future Tata consumers.''
