Instrumentation staff against privatisation

By Our Staff Correspondent

NEW DELHI MARCH 11. A delegation of the Palakkad unit of Instrumentation Ltd., a public sector enterprise, met the Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Balasaheb Vikhe Patil, to prevent privatisation of this profit-making company.

Instrumentation, with its headquarter at Kota in Rajasthan, has been on the disinvestment list since 1993 and tenders for its privatisation are likely to be opened today. Set up in 1974, the Kota unit of the company has been suffering losses

The delegation drew the attention of the Minister towards the difficulties being faced by the staff ever since the unit was identified for privatisation.

Demanding grant of an independent subsidiary status to the unit, the members pointed out that a move in this direction had already been made.

Even after expiry of six years from the due date, wage revision or even interim relief has not been given to the employees, the delegation members said while seeking implementation of the wage revision recommendations and disbursal of arrears.

The delegation was led by MP from Palakkad, N. N. Krishnadar, Ramesh Chennithala and former MP, V. S. Vijaya Raghavan.
