AirTel has also launched an application MMS (multimedia messaging services) on GPRS service, which would enable consumers to send their text messages with pictures, images and sound clips. This service would be available for all AirTel consumers. The AirTel MMS is supported by an MMS Masala portal through its web site, whereby consumers can download photographs. MMS will be offered free up to April 30. Addressing a press conference here today, P. H. Rao, Managing Director, Bharti Mobinet, said at present MMS would be operated only from an MMS compatible phone. However, if the Masala Messaging was activated, one could directly create and send an MMS to any GSM user across the country. MMS could also be sent by e-mail to any user ID in the world, he said.
