229 cases of malpractice in Plus-Two exams

CHENNAI March 11. A total of 229 instances of malpractice such as carrying `bits', exchange of answer papers and impersonation, have so far been recorded in the ongoing higher secondary examinations.

Incidentally, the year 2003 has been declared a `malpractice-free year'.

A release from the Directorate of Government Examinations today said that on the first day of the examinations (March 3), 17 cases were detected, and on March 4 six.

On March 5 when English-I was the subject, 74 incidents were recorded, including 19 in Cuddalore; on March 6 (English-II) 68 including 20 in Cuddalore; one instance on March 7 (Political Science) and 63 on March 10 (History and Physics).

As per the release, 60 of the 229 instances were detected in Cuddalore district, 20 in Chennai, 23 in Perambalur and 43 in Tiruvannamalai districts.
