By Our Staff Reporter

Bangalore March 11. The Minister of State for Primary Education, B.K.Chandrashekar today told the Legislative Council that Rs. 26 crore had been illegally paid towards salaries to teachers belonging to the Jagadamba Education Society in Bijapur and Gulbarga districts, which got the grants by producing fake documents.

Replying to H.S.Shivashankar, B.G.Patil and M.P.Nadagouda, the minister said the officers of the Department of Public Instruction were involved in the racket. On the complaint that some teachers were denied salaries on the charge that they did not have the prescribed qualification, the minister said the Government had decided to implement the B.S.Horatti Committee report on it.
