A Durban-based private radio station has made a public apology to Sanath Jayasuriya and his men for the `rude' comments made on the team by one of its DJs. The East Coast Radio had an apology published in The Mercury on Tuesday following comments made by its DJ, Daryl Ilbury on the Sri Lankans. The DJ was apparently so incensed by South Africa's defeat that he abused the Sri Lankans for denying the home team a chance to proceed to the Super Six series. But there were hardly any takers for his comments as listeners flooded the radio station with complaints. There was also an outcry from the local people of Indian origin who complained that the comments were not only rude and shocking but also racist in character. The DJ was subsequently suspended for a few days by the radio station. But after continuing condemnation by local Indian activists, the radio station resorted to the public apology.
