World Cup
Sandeep Patil is pleased with the way his Kenyan lineup has responded to the unexpected pressures of World Cup cricket. "They have only played 18 one-day internationals in the last four years, but they have showed real character to come back from the disastrous start when we lost against South Africa," Patil said after a practice for Wednesday's match against Zimbabwe. What made Patil particularly happy was the way his team was willing to work at matching the test-playing nations. "Even after we beat Sri Lanka in Nairobi," he said, "the guys have kept their feet on the ground." "Every game is a big game for us," said Patil, a member of India's World Cup-winning squad in 1983. "Our record against Zimbabwe is not good, so we need to keep ourselves on a high." "Remember, though, that we have done remarkably well to get so far," said Patil. "Although some people are unhappy to see us where we are now, they need to remember that it's not all down to luck. We have played some good cricket, and we won four matches on our way to this stage of the tournament."
