Letters to the Editor
Sir, A few days ago, during question hour in the Lok Sabha, there was an unusual sight. Some members of Parliament nearly came to blows, in the presence of the Prime Minister, on the issue of use of Hindi. If I remember correct there was a convention that whenever an MP puts a question in English, the Minister concerned has to reply only in English. This practice has been given the go-by. I find many of the Ministers replying only in Hindi, though the questions are in English. This will be a setback for those who do not follow Hindi while following the proceedings of the Lok Sabha telecast live.
