Appeal rejected

Sri Lanka's appeal against an ICC ruling on penalties for New Zealand and qualification criteria for the second stage of the World Cup has been rejected.

ICC appeals commissioner Ahmed Ebrahim declined the appeal lodged by Sri Lankan cricket authorities, which disputed the World Cup technical committee's interpretation of the criteria used to decide which teams progress to the Super Six. He ruled that the criteria was clear and unequivocal, the ICC said in a statement on Monday.
