As no clear information was available initially about the "sale of applications", some members of the public got agitated. However, the university later explained the application methods. A press release said advertisements had been published in all leading dailies (on March 2), detailing the methods of applying for TNCPEE 2003. No printed form would be issued as the university had introduced online filing of applications and online issue of hall tickets since last year. Online registration would begin on March 7 and end on March 28 in selected centres, as given in the advertisement. The applications could be filled in 55 designated centres, where the candidates would be photographed. Once the candidate submitted the required fee, in the form of a demand draft, the hall ticket would be issued immediately. Candidates who were unable to go to the designated centres could file the application on the Internet as per the procedure detailed on the web site "www.annuniv.edu/tnpcee2003". Applications submitted on the Internet would be allotted a serial number. Then the candidate could take a printout of the form, affix a photograph and apply by post or present it, along with the DD, to the university. The hall ticket would be sent later by post. The university had given, besides this facility, an application format in the advertisement. Candidates could type out the application conforming to the format and send it by post or present it, along with the DD, to the Secretary, TNCPEE 2003, Anna University. The hall ticket would be sent by post within 10 days. The DD should be drawn in favour of the "The Director, Entrance Examinations, Anna University" payable in Chennai. The university urged the parents to approach only the designated centres and not the university for the applications. However, the application period coincides with the Plus-Two examinations, which also began today. Candidates appearing for the examinations would find it difficult to go to the designated centres for online registration. The delay in the Government announcing its admissions policy for professional courses seems to have led to the situation, say parents and academics.
