Five killed in separate road mishaps

CUDDAPAH March 3. Five persons were killed in separate road mishaps since Sunday evening.

In the first incident, three persons died on the spot when a speeding van carrying grapes, in which they were travelling hit a roadside sunflower cutting machine and then hit against a tree near Kondavandlapalle village in Ramapuram mandal, on the Cuddapah-Chittoor national highway on Monday.

Jagannatham (25), Sivaprasad (25), both grape traders of Venkatagiri Kota in Devanahalli district of Karnataka, and the van driver, Krishnamurthy (30), died on the spot.

They were proceeding towards Prodattur after selling grape stocks at the Rayachoti market early on Monday, when the mishap occurred. The Ramapuram SI, Saab Jan said over speeding caused the mishap.

In the second incident, Balaiah (60), and Baby Rani (28) died while another person sustained severe injuries when an autorickshaw fell into a ditch after hitting a mini-lorry, near the Pennar bridge in Chennur on Sunday evening.

Balaiah of Dumpalagattu village in Khajipet mandal, succumbed to injuries at the Cuddapah Government Hospital on Sunday evening while Baby Rani of Chennur succumbed on Monday.

Mohammed Munnisha (22), also of Chennur, who sustained severe injuries and was undergoing treatment in Cuddapah Government hospital. The auto driver was absconding. The Chennur police have registered a case.
