By Mohandas Menon
**Michael Bevan became the fourth Australian (after Steve Waugh 325, Allan Border 273 and Mark Waugh 244) and the 32nd overall to appear in 200 LOIs. **Playing in his fifth WC match, Matthew Hayden (88) registered his maiden fifty. His previous highest was the unbeaten 45 he made against India at Centurion on 15-2-2003. **Hayden's score is now the highest by a visiting batsman at Potchefstroom. The previous highest was his own 78 against South Afrca on 27-3-2002. **Lehmann's 28 runs (4, 4, 4, 6, 4, 6) off medium pacer Rudi van Vuuren was the maximum scored in an over in WC history. He betters the 26 runs (4, 6, 4, 6, 6, 0) scored by West Indian Brian Lara off Canadian left-arm spinner Barry Seebaran at Centurion on 23-2-2003. **Glenn McGrath's 7-15 was the second best bowling figures in LOI history after the 8-19 by Sri Lankan Chaminda Vaas against Zimbabwe at the SSC, Colombo on 8-12-2001. However, it was the best in the WC. West Indian Winston Davis had claimed 7-51 against Australia at Leeds on 11-6-1983. **The previous best bowling figures by an Aussie also came in a WC match when left-arm paceman Gary Gilmour captured six wickets for 14 runs (in 12 overs) against England at Leeds on 18-6-1975. **McGrath's previous best career bowling performance also came in the WC, when he claimed 5-14 against the West Indies at Manchester on 30-5-1999. **With 35 wickets (in 22 matches) McGrath becomes the highest wicket-taker for Australia in the WC. He goes past the 32 wickets by Shane Warne (in 17 matches). **The six dismissals (all catches) by Adam Gilchrist was the maximum by a keeper in the WC. Five others India's Syed Kirmani (1983), West Indian Jimmy Adams (1996), Pakistani Rashid Latif (1996), Indian Nayan Mongia and West Indian Ridley Jacobs all have five dismissals each in the WC. **Gilchrist also equals the record for most dismissals in an LOI. The Aussie keeper (in 2000 and 2003) along with Englishman Alec Stewart (in 2000) and West Indian Jacobs (in 2001) share the record. **Gilchrist's six catches has taken his tally of dismissals to 259 (222 catches, 37 stumpings) in 151 matches. He now has the maximum dismissals by any keeper in LOI history. He goes past the record of 257 (191 cts, 66 sts) by Pakistani Moin Khan (in 182 matches). **Gilchrist's six catches also makes him the Australian keeper with most dismissals in the WC. From 12 WC matches Gilchrist now has 24 dismissals (20 cts, 2 sts), which takes him past the 21 dismissals (18 cts, 3 sts) in 14 matches by Ian Healy. **Namibia's 45 is the lowest total ever made by any team against Australia. India was dismissed for 63 by the Aussies at Sydney on 8-1-1981. **Namibia's 45 in 14 overs was the shortest innings in LOI history. Zimbabwe was routed for 38 runs in 15.4 overs by Sri Lanka at the SSC, Colombo on 8-12-2001. **The victory by 256 runs was the largest in terms of runs in LOI history. Sri Lanka had previously beaten India by 245 runs at Sharjah on 29-10-2000. Australia's best win prior to this match was the 232-run victory over Sri Lanka at Adelaide on 28-1-1985. **This was Australia's 11th LOI win in a row since 11-1-2003, thus equalling the record for most consecutive wins by West Indies from 4-6-1984 to 2-2-1985. Sri Lanka was the last team to beat the Aussies, at Sydney on 9-1-2003. **The man of the match award was Glenn McGrath's eighth in 173 LOIs and third in 22 matches in the WC.
