PM trying to mislead courts: Mulayam

By Our Special Correspondent

New Delhi Feb. 25. The Samajwadi Party president, Mulayam Singh Yadav, today accused the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, of ``trying to mislead the courts'' by stating that a temple existed under the disputed site at Ayodhya.

Talking to reporters here after a meeting of the party's Parliamentary Board, Mr. Yadav said the statement was part of a campaign that was on to build a temple at the disputed site. ``We've take a serious view of it.''

Mr. Yadav said the recent `Dharam Sansad' was not a parliament of representative body of Hindus, but of a `sadhu cell' of the BJP. On the move to instal Savarkar's portrait in the Central Hall of Parliament, he said that if there was no consensus on the issue, the BJP should abandon the idea.

The Parliamentary Board announced that it will hold a `special session' at Agra from March 13 and come out with a political resolution. Before that, the national executive will meet on March 12.

A committee with Janeshwar Mishra as the convener has been constituted to arrive at a resolution that reflects the party's concerns about POTA, sugarcane arrears to U.P. farmers, the ``high-handedness'' in putting down the party's rally in the State and other issues. The members of the committee include the party general Secretary, Amar Singh, Rajya Sabha leader, Ram Gopal Yadav.
