Cong. `conclave for unity' soon

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD Feb. 25. A fresh initiative by some senior leaders of the Congress to bring together the warring factions "for the benefit of the party and the people'' was bearing fruit and would result in a conclave for unity soon, according to K.Kesava Rao and Mallu Ravi.

Talking to presspersons here on Tuesday, they said a breakfast meeting of some former MPs and other seniors in the party on Tuesday, a second one of late, had decided to bring together all those "airing healthy differences'' within the party and impress upon them the need to remain united.

G.Venkataswamy, M.Baga Reddy, T.Bala Goud, P.Narsa Reddy, Nandi Yellaiah, K.Krishna Reddy and K.S.Rao had undertaken the job of "talking to those who matter in the party'' and their efforts had elicited a positive response, they said.

Next week one more meeting would be held to bring together the PCC and CLP leaders.

AICC leaders like P.Shiv Shankar and V.Hanumantha Rao and the Congress Working Committee member, Sarojini Pulla Reddy, had been contacted and they too agreed to the proposal.

The conclave to be held next month would be attended by important leaders of district level too apart from other prominent ones.

Blessings of both the PCC and the CLP were imperative to the effort and AICC leadership too would be involved soon to make the dialogue more meaningful and the end result more fruitful, they said.
