Kerala-Thiruvananthapuram
By Our Special Correspondent
In a statement here today, Mr. Bhargavan said though Mr. Natesan may have his personal reasons for taking the SNDP Yogam to the Parivar manger, it would ultimately result in the entire people rallied behind the Yogam becoming subservient to the Parivar forces, who stood for hegemony of the upper castes. That the real intent of the SNDP Yogam general secretary's call for broad Hindu unity was nothing but a ruse for taking the Yogam to the Parivar manger had become clear with the VHP leader, Kummanam Rajasekharan, praising Mr. Natesan and foul-mouthing the NSS leadership, the CPI leader said. The Sangh Parivar, Mr. Bhargavan pointed out, had always stood for reinforcing the `varna' system in India. Leaders of the RSS and VHP had never been hesitant in admitting this. Their concept of Hindu unity was nothing but the establishment of a system where Brahmins and Vaisyas would have supremacy. The slogan of broad Hindu unity was being utilised by both the Parivar and the Yogam leadership to achieve this. However, any attempt in this direction would be a grave act of disrespect to Sree Narayana Guru who had waged a relentless battle against caste system. The SNDP Yogam itself was formed to propagate the Guru's teachings. But the label of the Yogam and the Guru's name were being used by Mr. Natesan and his friends to `white wash' the upper caste forces. This would turn out to be a disgrace for the Ezhava community and the memory of Sree Narayana Guru, Mr. Bhargavan said.
