Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Editorial `A shortsighted approach' (Feb. 12) has pointed out that the Vajpayee regime should launch a dialogue process after shedding its obsession with the All-Party Hurriyat Conference. It wants the BJP to free itself from its majoritarian agenda. But a Pakistan-inclusive "comprehensive" talk at this juncture as demanded by the Hurriyat will be a futile exercise given the neighbour's inimical attitude and the terrorist activities directed at us. Further, Pakistan is basking in the warmth of its ties with the United States as its frontline ally in the war against terrorism. The Hurriyat, a pro-Pak dispensation, needs to be watched.
