`Diary reveals details of funds for terrorists'

NEW DELHI FEB. 7. The diary which was recovered from the possession of Anjum Zamrud Habib, a "socio-human rights activist'', arrested along with Shabir Ahmed Dar by the Special Cell of the Delhi police on Thursday, allegedly reveals detailed disbursement details of amounts to be given to various terrorist organisations.

Sources in the Delhi police claimed on Friday that the biggest share of the money allegedly disbursed by officials at the Pakistan High Commission here was scheduled to go to the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front.

According to them, Rs. 1.2 lakhs was to be given to the JKLF. The next biggest beneficiary of this money was Al Umar, set to receive Rs. 80,000.

Other banned organisations to be paid from the amount were Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad — both to be paid Rs. 30,000 each. The Hizb-ul-Mujahideen was to be given Rs. 20,000, while another Rs. 20,000 was to be kept by the accused herself.

Going by what the sources claimed, a sum of Rs. 2 lakhs recovered from the possession of Shabir Ahmed Dar, in charge of Hurriyat's Kashmir Awareness Bureau here, was meant for the well-being of terrorists lodged in the Tihar Central Jail here.

According to sources, a list of 45 terrorists, all of whom are lodged in the five jails of Tihar, was found in the diary and it was mentioned that the amount would be used to ensure their well-being and help them in legal matters.

The police would now be examining the audio and video cassettes recovered from the possession of the accused. Most of these, however, deal with terrorist propaganda, sources claimed.

It has also been alleged that Anjum's accomplices were indulging in distribution of money among terrorists operating in the southern parts of Jammu and Kashmir. The agencies there have been informed and raids were being conducted to trace and nab them.

Meanwhile, the police would, on Saturday, move the court seeking permission to access the web site through which terrorist propaganda was allegedly being promoted.
