Karnataka-Bangalore
By Our Staff Reporter
Addressing presspersons, Mr. Satyanarayana described the order as "illegal" and in contravention of the KMC Act. ``The votes of MPs and MLAs of Bangalore, apart from the corporators, are considered in the mayoral polls. They should also be taken into account to decide the Opposition party as per the Act,'' he said. Although the BJP had fewer councillors than the JD(S), its total strength, including MPs and MLAs, was higher, he added. ``The strength of the JD(S) is 16, and that of BJP is 15 in the BMP Council. However, the BJP has a total strength of 24, including corporators, MLAs, and MPs," Mr. Satyanarayana said. Therefore, the status of the Opposition party should be given to the BJP, he demanded.
