U.P. Govt. to abide by court verdict on Ayodhya dispute

New Delhi Feb. 7. The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mayawati, today said she saw no harm in the Centre moving the Supreme Court on the Ayodhya issue, while asserting that her Government would accept a court decision on the issue.

``Why should anybody have any objection to the Central Government moving the apex court," she asked, while addressing reporters at the airport this evening. "The stand of my Government is clear, we will abide by the court verdict on the disputed or undisputed land," she said.

The Centre had moved the Supreme Court asking it to vacate its stay order of 1994 on religious acvitities in the Ayodhya complex.

In reply to another question, Ms. Mayawati said more than 24 Samajwadi Party legislators were in contact with the Bahujan Samaj Party.'' Disclosure in this regard will be done at the appropriate time,'' she said.

Meanwhile at Bhopal, the president of the Ramjanmabhoomi Nyas, Ramchandra Paramhans, today said that the Nyas was committed to building a grand "Ram temple" at Ayodhya in the next 18 months.

In an informal chat with newspersons at the Bhopal Railway Station, on his way to Maharashtra, he said the undisputed land should be handed to the Nyas at the earliest.

Expressing support for the agitation of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, he said the mahants and sadhus would meet in New Delhi on February 22 and 23 to chart the future course of action on the Ayodhya issue.``Ayodhya, Mathura and Kashi are religious places of the Hindus and only they should have control over it," he said.

The Prime Minister, A.B. Vajpayee, and the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani are also ``Ram Bhakts'', but they are bound by the NDA agenda. — UNI
