Gas cylinder explodes; youth killed

BANGALORE Jan. 31. A youth was killed and two were injured when a gas cylinder exploded in a paint and varnish manufacturing unit in Rajgopalnagar police station limits on Friday evening.

According to police, Gajendra (20) of Arsikere, a helper in the paint unit at Ganapathinagar, died on the spot, and Nanjundaiah and Thimaraju were injured when the cylinder exploded at around 5.30 p.m.

Both Nanjundaiah and Thimmaraju were admitted to hospital. Two fire tenders put out the fire. The loss of property is yet to be estimated. Rajgopalnagar police have registered a case.

Man killed in mishap

A 40-year-old man was killed when a truck hit the two-wheeler he was riding in Sanjaynagar police station limits on Thursday night. Police have identified the dead as Dasharath of Kannamangala, Devanahalli taluk. The accident occurred near Lottegollahalli on Ring Road. R.T. Nagar traffic police have registered a case.

Chain snatchers held

Two members of a gang of chain-snatchers were arrested after a chase near a petrol bunk at Attiguippe, Vijayanagar, on Friday evening. Police said they snatched chains from two women in the morning and from a woman in the evening in Jnanabharati police station limits.
