Bhattacharjee shows old touch

GUWAHATI JAN. 31. Former National champion Dipankar Bhattacharjee of Assam brought back memories of his exploits during his salad days with an impeccable show of power and touch in moving into the second round of the 67th senior National badminton championship at the NFRSA Indoor Stadium in Maligaon near here on Friday.

Playing Vivek Tatawadi of Banks' Sports Board, the 30-year-old returning to competitive arena after five long years, posted a resounding 15-1, 15-0 win which was marked by the old style of high tosses, deceptive drop shots and accurate smashes to the flanks.

Among the ladies, Karnataka's Aditi Biswas showcased her talent in winning both her round matches.
